This is how digitalisation works! PIM and middleware realised in 4 weeks

Introducing a PIM and connecting it to the respective sales channels is often comparable to running a marathon. The ecommerce specialist deltashops from Emsdetten has now shown that this task can also be completed in a sprint in its collaboration with LECO-Werke.

Within four weeks, not only was a new PIM (Product Information Management) set up, this was linked to the ERP system Sage and then filled with the product data available there. A complete order processing system including automated data exchange via middleware (interface management tool) was also realised. In this case, it was a matter of connecting to the online marketplace of real.de, through which LECO’s current summer collection is sold. All communication between the ERP system and real.de is now automated.

With the new deltaPIM, LECO’s marketing staff and product managers now have the option of storing all conceivable product data – from descriptions, meta tags and translations to photos, videos and data sheets – and transferring it to the connected sales channels. LECO employees can make almost all changes and enhancements to the PIM themselves, allowing them to act flexibly on the market.

“It was important for us to be able to make the PIM settings ourselves as far as possible and therefore not be dependent on external service providers. And it is precisely this advantage that we have covered with deltaPIM and after just a few weeks we can say that we have not regretted this decision,” says Jörg Ventker, Head of IT at LECO-Werke, drawing a positive initial conclusion. “Realising a project like this in such a short space of time only works with a reliable partner – who not only has the technical expertise, but also favours a pragmatic approach to implementation,” says Ventker, looking back.

In the coming days and weeks, the other sales channels will now be gradually connected via the middleware, thus further optimising data maintenance and order processing. In future, the content of the website, an online shop or catalogues can also be controlled centrally via deltaPIM. A classic example of how digitalisation with a flexible service provider pays for itself after just a short time …
